These were the albums I found myself listening to the most in 2013. All over the map genre wise; hip hop and techno to folk, footwork and freaky. I couldn't possibly put them in any order but I have broken them up into two categories; Light Rotation and Heavy Rotation. I even wrote little blurbs about the Heavy Rotation so you can have a better idea of what you are getting yourself into. I would pretty much listen to Aleph when I was trying to get psyched to go out or just be powerful. Heavy hitting techno with some insane music videos to pair with it. Also unpredicted traces of androgynous speaking which took some getting used to. The instrumentals are indestructible though.

This album is all over the place. More like a story. Kinda like how albums used to be in the 90's and before. Incredible songwriting though. From meditative to melodramatic. Pretty flawless.

Dark. Hell. Music. Listened to this when I really wanted to "get there". Get out the candles and the axe and meet me in the basement. Minimal and horrifying, just how I like it. 

                                  The Word As Power - Lustmord

Vocal chant music on the next level. I would venture if I had to choose a number 1 album of 2013 this would be it. Very spiritual and focused. The first song "babel" had the ability to instantly put me in a holy state of mind. Perfect.

Freddie Gibbs is the most unforgiving rapper I know of. Uncensored always and raw to the bone. Not for the faint of heart. The beats in this album are solid like old 90's beats- no trap here. The bass is thick as butter but his vocals cut like a hot knife.

Electronic landscapes. Distant sirens. Beautiful eerie melodies. This would be a close runner up to the number 1 album of the year for me. Unique yet approachable. Distinct yet refreshing. A must listen for anyone into electronic.

Wonderous beats. Some of them techno. Some of them more hip hoppy. But the synths that sweep over them are uncompromising and take it to the next level. Really gets the energy crankin' at times.

Peace in music. Somewhat somber, but soooo reflective. When I wanted to get work done on a cold night I put this on. Sounds taken from his trip into nature combined with thick analog sounding melodies make this album dreamy and warm.

                                            Glittervoice - Borealis

Forward beats and techno with washing synths. It combines two of my favorite things; power and ecstasy. Cold and brutal at times- overwhelming and beautiful at others. Never heard of Borealis before this album, but will definitely follow them now.

He has worked on original tracks in the studio with some of musics freshest names including MikeQ, DJ Sliink, DJ Rashad, Zebra Katz and DJ Fade. He has released HUGE remixes of Cassie, Aaliyah, Kirko Bangz, Kanye West, Beyonce, Rihanna, Ashanti, Nguzuguzu, and Jamie Foxx. He has had his own BBC Radio 1 broadcast being a featured artist on Diplo and Friends show. Shall I stop there? No. Lets keep going. Brenmar was named FADER's Top 10 producers to watch and released mixtapes for them, XLR8R, and Fact Magazine.

What can't this 28 year old artist accomplish? Pretty much nothing. With over 20k followers on Soundcloud and countless fans worldwide Brenmar is a force to be reckoned with. Hailing from Chicago and NYC this producer makes, in his own words, "Club music for the present".

Coming back to the DADT stage Leah is winner of Boston Music Awards BEST DJ OF 2011. She is also proud curator and DJ of the long time running and well respected Zuzdays at Zuzu, alongside Blk.Adonis, Brizgnar and at one time D'hana and Rizzla. Her reach extends across the city pulling the community together with her sickening style and good vibes, hosting parties from Downtown to JP to Somerville. Just getting back from San Francisco DJing for the west coast she is ready to turn it up. Leah is a local legend. And she will prove that to you.

Swelta is music enthusiast, DJ, promoter, writer, and producer Anthony Dean. Spawned in the young but livid electronic music scene of Austin Texas in 2007, he is currently based in Boston Massachusetts. Swelta plays around the United States pushing the sounds of numerous genres and world regions. From House to Dancehall, from Ballroom to Balearic House, and the early sounds of Dubstep to the battleground of Chicago Footwork, Swelta's vision is one of musical unity through diversity. He is Co-Founder of the Austin, Texas based music collective the Void ATX and affiliate of #FEELINGS Records ~ Swelta's energy is infectious.

LE1F, aka Khalif Diouf, is a New-York-based rapper and DJ. He attended Wesleyan University along with Das Racist and made the beat for their breakout hit Combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell. After releasing a single, “Mind Body”, his debut mixtape, Dark York, was released on April 15th, 2012 on Himanshu Suri’s Greedhead Music.

More recently he has released a second mixtape 'Fly Zone' which is receiving rave reviews.

Pitchfork writes "All in all, Fly Zone is an epically audacious record, boiling down to essentially a 13-track demand from Le1f to be allowed access to a mainstream audience without sacrificing a shred of the identity that sets him apart from nearly every rapper a mainstream audience has been drawn to."

Having just completed tours in Japan, Australia and Europe Le1f is ready to return to the states and DADT is honored to welcome him to our stage.

For this event DADT is working in conjunction with the Together Festival! This means all your tickets will be honored if you are participating in the citywide showcase of amazing bands and artists. Here is a lil more info on the festival.

Together Festival is an annual celebration of music, art and technology, based in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The festival was first held in February, 2010, with a primary focus on electronic dance music. As the festival has evolved however, its laser focus has shifted to encompass a broader scope of musical genres as well as a thorough exploration of the art and technology sectors.

Through a week-long series of educational and professional discussion panels, art installations, film screenings, and musical performances at venues around the Boston/Cambridge area, Together Festival has attracted around 20,000 attendees per year. Although historically based in Boston, the festival has found its footing across the Charles River in Central Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts and expects to be working closely with Cambridge City Hall in 2013.

In 2012, Together hosted musical artists such as Photek, RJD2, Mala,Todd Edwards, Dillon Francis, Nero, Phill Niblock, 6th Borough Project and more, while hosting film screenings for the Chemical Brothers movie Don’t Think, as well as the Electric Daisy Carnival documentary.
