BEN AQUA

Ben Aqua is a multidisciplinary artist based in Austin, Texas. Born in Brooklyn, New York, his visual work has been exhibited internationally and published in Rolling Stone, NYLON, SPIN, NME, Flaunt, Bloomberg Businessweek, OUT, ARKITIP, XLR8R, Beautiful/Decay, JOGGING and Fecal Face. His music has been featured by Interview, Mad Decent, DFA, Polyvinyl, Vice, Dummy Mag, FACT, Modular, URB, BUTT and Opening Ceremony. He has shared festival and club stages with The Crystal Method, DJ Rashad, Big Freedia, NGUZUNGUZU, Zebra Katz, Madeon, Com Truise, Onra, YACHT, Run DMT, Lightning Bolt, Dan Deacon, A Flock Of Seagulls, Kingdom, Dubbel Dutch and Computer Jay. He is also the head chief of the electronic music label #FEELINGS.

POOLBOY92

Born in Plainfield, NJ from reggaeton snares and think breaks, poolboy92 was destined for the club. His grace and skill have enabled him to move through the New York Underground over the past few years like a silver panther through his native tree-lines. With support from the likes of Brenmar, Astronomar, Bot, C.Z., and forthcoming releases on #FEELINGS and Apothecary Compositions, the Piscean CDJ prince is sure to galvanize rave generations from here on in. Through his musical endeavors, poolboy92 hopes to ensue a stream of mental aqueducts towards the global awareness of Universal Abundance.

SWELTA

Swelta is Los Angeles based DJ and Producer Anthony Dean. Raised in the heat-laden gutter sound of Austin, Texas, Swelta has made a name for his assorted selection and advocacy of underground music lifestyles and culture. Though classically trained in the UK sound of Garage and Grime, Swelta’s style proves anything but streamlined: “East Coast club music, UK club music, from the heart of the Caribbean to the throws of Texas chopped and screwed, when I play, the lines are merely academic. I believe that we need to strive for diverse club experiences, for experiences that may open minds and overcome the boundaries we experience every day. Though electronic music loves its genre specificity, it’s diversity that actually mirrors our increasingly integrated social world. I guess I’m still a believer in PLUR, without all the bullshit.” Swelta is an affiliate of #FEELINGS Records and Boston’s Lifted Contingency.

COLBY DRASHER

Colby Drasher is a DJ, Event Curator and Visual Artist responsible for the award winning dance party Dont Ask Dont Tell in Boston MA. He has shared the stage with Saint Pepsi, Brenmar, Pictureplane, Le1f, Myyki Blanco, MikeQ, Boychild, Pajaritos, D'hana and many others. His sets have been described as "relentless" and tend to feature a broad range of high energy dance music. He is unafraid to get down with his audience and invite people on stage to party up close and personal.

Colby Drasher's Top 20 Albums of 2013

These were the albums I found myself listening to the most in 2013. All over the map genre wise; hip hop and techno to folk, footwork and freaky. I couldn't possibly put them in any order but I have broken them up into two categories; Light Rotation and Heavy Rotation. I even wrote little blurbs about the Heavy Rotation so you can have a better idea of what you are getting yourself into. If you would like a copy of any of them let me know and I "will see what I can do".

                                             Light Rotation

                                       Vapor City - Machinedrum
[ FAVE TRACK: Eyesdontlie  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZIU4z95LkE ]

Shaking the Habitual - The Knife
[ FAVE TRACK: Cherry on Top  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TD3NygpaWq0 ]

                                        Immunity - Jon Hopkins

                                          Rival Dealer - Burial
[FAVE TRACK: Rival Dealer  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xd3Ch53PxBs ]

                                          Old - Danny Brown
[ FAVE TRACK: Smokin' and Drinkin'  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0rYiIiJusQ ]

                                              Hi Tide - Tide Eye

                                        DJ Kicks - John Talabot
[ FAVE TRACK: Old Song - Max Mohr  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ER4N3wxrUL4 ]

                                     Ghost Systems Rave - Clouds

                                      Late Night Tales - Royksopp
[ FAVE TRACK: Vangelis - Blade Runner Blues  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RScZrvTebeA ]

                                             Make You - Sepalcure
[ FAVE TRACK: The Waters Fine  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QencgXA3B24 ]

                                              Heavy Rotation

                                          Aleph - Gesaffelstein
[FAVE TRACK: Pursuit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRSijEW_cDM ]
I would pretty much listen to Aleph when I was trying to get psyched to go out or just be powerful. Heavy hitting techno with some insane music videos to pair with it. Also unpredicted traces of androgynous speaking which took some getting used to. The instrumentals are indestructible though.

                                            Lost - Trentmoller
[ FAVE TRACK: River of Life http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wUHjvGqAp4 ]
This album is all over the place. More like a story. Kinda like how albums used to be in the 90's and before. Incredible songwriting though. From meditative to melodramatic. Pretty flawless.

                                   Excavation - The Haxan Cloak
[ FAVE TRACK: Mara *unavailable online* ]
Dark. Hell. Music. Listened to this when I really wanted to "get there". Get out the candles and the axe and meet me in the basement. Minimal and horrifying, just how I like it.

The Word As Power - Lustmord
[ FAVE TRACK: Babel https://soundcloud.com/lustmord/babel-extract ]
Vocal chant music on the next level. I would venture if I had to choose a number 1 album of 2013 this would be it. Very spiritual and focused. The first song "babel" had the ability to instantly put me in a holy state of mind. Perfect.

                                           ESGN - Freddie Gibbs
[ FAVE TRACK: Have u seen her? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NH4TNXVEyHM ]
Freddie Gibbs is the most unforgiving rapper I know of. Uncensored always and raw to the bone. Not for the faint of heart. The beats in this album are solid like old 90's beats- no trap here. The bass is thick as butter but his vocals cut like a hot knife.

                                     A/B Til Infinity - Egyptrixx
[ FAVE TRACK: A/B Til Infinity http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqwCBmfv6h8 ]
Electronic landscapes. Distant sirens. Beautiful eerie melodies. This would be a close runner up to the number 1 album of the year for me. Unique yet approachable. Distinct yet refreshing. A must listen for anyone into electronic.

                                           Self Therapy - SCNTST
[ FAVE TRACK: Percee Scan https://soundcloud.com/scntst/percee-scan ]
Wonderous beats. Some of them techno. Some of them more hip hoppy. But the synths that sweep over them are uncompromising and take it to the next level. Really gets the energy crankin' at times.

                                         Hinterland - Recondite
[ FAVE TRACK: Leafs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yAEDi3hnQnc ]
Peace in music. Somewhat somber, but soooo reflective. When I wanted to get work done on a cold night I put this on. Sounds taken from his trip into nature combined with thick analog sounding melodies make this album dreamy and warm.

                                            Glittervoice - Borealis
[ FAVE TRACK: MOLL-E http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLWK4Alcybo ]
Forward beats and techno with washing synths. It combines two of my favorite things; power and ecstasy. Cold and brutal at times- overwhelming and beautiful at others. Never heard of Borealis before this album, but will definitely follow them now.

SIX FEET BENEATH THE MOON - KING KRULE
The muse speaks through. Youth overcomes ancient. Genres blend. Looking forward.
